Arina has just arrived in Nepal and finished her first week of work. In the past Arina worked for a travel agency: that's how she learned more about Nepal and she decided she wanted to work there for a while.


In the mornings Arina works at the Mother Theresa Children home. She takes care of the children and besides that carries on the creative activities José started. In the afternoon she comes to Hamro Niwas to help the children with their homework. And that is necessary because the children have to learn the book and the lessons by heart….copy it sort of speak. They don't teach them the grammar and the logic of English, let alone the pronunciation. So we try to do that part in the home by dividing the children into small groups at their own level.
This way it's easier for Arina and the other volunteers to help them with questions about their homework and they have the chance to practice grammar, pronunciation and conversation.

So it's quit busy in the afternoon, but cosy and educational. The children have just received their grades and again they are amongst the best of their classes.
Considering that the children had no or little education when they came to live at the home, besides one or the other traumatic experience, this is an enormous event for the staff and the volunteers.
