The Roots and Goals of Stichting Veldwerk

Stichting Veldwerk, working for underprivileged children in Nepal.

 How did Stichting Veldwerk start?
Stichting Veldwerk ( translated as "Foundation Fieldwork") was established by Rene Veldt in 1999. He resigned from his healthcare job in Holland, sold his house and property and left for Nepal. In Nepal where the need is high he wanted to directly help underprivileged children (street children, orphans and handicapped) on a small-scale. Rene Veldt is as a volunteer active in various locations in Nepal, working with local people and organizations to keep their own equality and self-respect. His motto is:

Don't say, just do!!!

In the Netherlands Rene Veldt is supported by a committee, mainly engaged with raising money for the active part in Nepal. The fund-raised money is coming directly to the project without a middleman. For his expense Rene Veldt pays responsibility to the committee and treasurer.

The Goal of Stichting Veldwerk.
In the mean time Rene Veldt carefully built up contacts with Nepali people and organizations, but also with foreign help organizations. He feels is it necessary to communicate with other organizations so that every one can benefit from each other's experience.
In particular Stichting Veldwerk is cooperating with the Centre for Child Studies and Development (CCSD) in Kathmandu. A university-educated woman, Ms. Bhuvaneshwari Satyal, manages CCSD. Together with CCSD Stichting Veldwerk started a children's home on the 15 of May 2002 in Kathmandu. The children's home is called Hamro Niwas, which means "Our Home". The aim of Stichting Veldwerk is to obtain together with CCSD a bigger house, where 45 children can make their home.
Through education and support Veldwerk try to work for a better future for the children. Rene Veldt is highly motivated and enthusiastic and to this end wants to ensure the children's home in Katmandu succeeds. But this is only possible with your help and financial support. In Nepal the yearly cost to run the children's home with 45 children and the Nepali educated staff is quite high.

Other Veldwerk connections;
Stichting Veldwerk cooperates besides CCSD, also with Child Welfare Scheme in Pokhara. They are running an education centre for underprivileged children. The job education center was officially opened at the beginning of May 2002 where the first 30 students started. With an education they have a future again. Look for the header Jyoti Vocational training project on these website.
Also in Pokhara Stichting Veldwerk support some of the students from the project of Children Nepal, who are working with mainly youngster from the street below the age of 16 years old.
René Veldt has been active in various small-scale projects since the beginning some 4 years ago. In dedication to Stichting Vajra he worked on:

Besides this, Rene Veldt acts as a mediator to employ volunteers in various places in Nepal. Volunteers are employed to care for handicapped people in the home of Mother Theresa, teaching English to children and teachers, and in a nursery for street children.
