15^th of July, Miguel's Happy Birthday.

Yes, it's Miguel's first anniversary and he decided to something different. He asks his mum, “please no boring party this year”.
So Jennifer who visits our Children home a few years before, send me the following message.

Hi everybody,
On Sunday, July 15^th, Joe and I are going to have a potluck at Farrell Avenue.  Miguel is ONE!! and we thought we'd use it as an excuse to have a get-together.  Kids welcome hot dogs on the BBQ, afternoon to evening.  Rain or shine. Miguel has three of every toy and boxes of clothes to fit him until he is 3, so we were thinking no gifts (unless second hand or a must have) but if you want to chip in 5 or 10 bucks towards an orphanage I visited in Kathmandu, Nepal then that's great.  The link is below so you can check out where the money is going.  The orphanage is operated by Nepali people, women mostly, and is amazing.  A Dutch man facilitates the operation, and provides funding.  His name is Rene Veldt and he is doing fantastic work.  If you are ever heading to Nepal I am sure he would love to take you on a tour of the new facility they are building.

Hi dear Miguel, Mum and Dad,
Thank you very much for this great gift, super. We will spend this money for our children while there is Dashain festival, October 2007. This festival is similar to our X-mass parties in the West and everybody here is going home, to join there family's.
Except our children, since they don't having a home or parents anymore. We will take them now instate of, to a nice place, kind of resort with great mountain views, picnic, kiting, and some extra coke, fanta and chips, beside good food. On top we will give al our children an small but nice present.

So Miguel's Birthday has a great multiply effect; “one birthday, but 30 kids very happy and celebrating with his gifts”
