Marjo normally works at Buro de Vries in Amsterdam, that's part of EAN in the Netherlands. She is a consultant, a so called “linking pin” between the technical and the communications department. Well, in the present time that job is not available in Nepal, (however this country sure needs some – red.) So Marjo is back at her old spot in Amsterdam, but I see her coming back some day. She sure didn't like to go back home so soon after the nice and pleasant time she had in Nepal.
By the way it's nice to mention that Marjo didn't show up empty handed in Nepal. Except for the things she had in her luggage, like clothes for Hamro Niwas and “Tools for self reliance” for our project in Pokhara, she brought something more.
The story goes like this;
Two years after that Marjo decided to go to Nepal and she remembered the birthday cash still in the drawer, not used!!!!
She discussed it with the management and it seemed the amount had already risen to 2000 euros. And because it concerned our children home Hamro Niwas, the management decided to double that amount. So a great deal of thanks is in order to everybody working at Bureau de Vries!
All in all Marjo came to Nepal with a cheque worth 4000 euro!!
I think this is a good example of the restructure between rich and poor and I hope more will follow.
René Veldt, Stichting Veldwerk.
Marjo has worked in Nepal for over a month. Amongst others at Hamro Niwas and the Mother Theresa institute.

“A break” was what she thought, and why not at the other side of the world where people are less fortunate?
So no Kit-kat for Marjo, but back to basic. With a big sense of humour though and that's what keeps us going in life?
Bureau de Vries is a busy place with a lot of employees, so the birthdays and the birthday cake ceremonies sometimes are a bit messy. So they decided to have all the birthday cake on a Friday afternoon, every Friday! And that's fun for a while but it got to a point that everybody got bored with it.
Just offer the baker a cake at a party and he won't be pleased...he had enough of that stuff. The same for the employees of Mister de Vries.
Voices rose to change the whole scene again and they decided to celebrate only once a moth. That way the cake would at least taste nice.
But, the money not spent should go to a good cause. Mister de Vries agreed.
I almost fell of my chair when she told me...unbelievable.
Something like; I go to Nepal and bring.....?
Marjo,
Thank you for everything you've done for us at Hamro Niwas and the Mother Theresa Institute. And thanks for your smart ideas and for being the linking pin between Nepal and the Netherlands. “Come back someday” is what comes to mind first and of course thanks in the name of all the children.
And we will let you all know what we spent the money on.
