During my mountain trek in Helambu with the board of Stichting Veldwerk I met a boy of nine years old; Ruplal. At that time he was working at a small hotel/restaurant. It sounds terrible but compared with his earlier circumstances, this job was a paradise for him.
His mother passed away and his father worked as a guard for a rich family at the Terrai. His father wasn't allowed to bring his children to his work, for this reason Ruplal lived with his eldest brother. His brother and his wife worked at a carpet factory and Ruplal had to look after the child of his brother. They lived in a very small and dirty cabin with a roof made of a sheet of corrugated plastic. But at least he had a place to stay and something to eat, something that other poor Nepalese children dream of.
When we met him he told us that he wanted to go to a better school where he would get the chance to learn English. Considering his current situation, which was better than a lot of other children in Nepal, he couldn't go to our children's home.
For Ruplal I found a sponsor and he could go to Mount Kailash school. But the principal of the school told me that he needed another 100 euro for the support of Ruplal, because the sponsor hadn't paid enough. Further Ruplal needed a uniform, a mattress, bedding, pyjamas, and a mosquito net before they allowed him to enter the school. In a rush I bought all the stuff so Ruplal could finally start at the school. Happily I know the sponsor personally because I want to check the story of the principal...
The most important thing is that Ruplal is released from child labour and he lives in better circumstances. He has a chance for a good job and a better future.

His neighbour, a woman who runs a hotel in the mountains, saw the poor circumstances Ruplal lived in. She arranged to apply him for a little school in the village, in exchange for this he had to work in her hotel in his spear time.
During my stay in Nepal I have had contact with the Mount Kailash school in Kopan.
This school gives education and a home to poor Nepalese children who live in the mountains. The school gets support from several English sponsors.
That's why we are here for: "no words but action".
