On a wet day during the Summer… after 3 days the rain had stopped and you could even see the sun for a minute.

Hi everybody,
The Dashain festival is almost about to begin. You can compare this festival with our Christmas celebration. In Nepal it is the biggest and most important festival of the year. During this celebration it is also holiday and everybody will visit his or her family in their birth place. Something that is connected with the festival are new clothes, but that is regarding our children home a big spenditure if we should buy this all new.

Luckily we have many sponsors and visitors who somehow supply us with clothes.
That is easy for our visitors, which are most of the time travellers from the Netherlands via Travel Organisations like Koning Aap, Sawadee, Outsight Travel, Summun Travel, and many more. These travellers pay a visit to our children home after they have been trekking in Nepal, India or Tibet. And with love they will leave behind the washed clothes they don't need anymore for the childen or the staff of our children home. But also in the Netherlands some action is taken to supply us with children clothes. Mirte Leijten from Dwingeloo has very warm feelings for our children home and is doing her utmost to supply us with second hand and new clothing.





She asked her family to give their children's old cloths to Mirte. Besides she is also tries to get free cloths from big supermarktes like Scapino. This all resulted in a enormous amount of children's clothing coming to Nepal. Even a large box filled with Duplo of Lego Benelux (childrens' toys) was send. Besides, it is a heavy way to carry in all to Nepal, but again, Mirte has good contacts with HT Wandelreizen (wandering travels) from Wapse. With a few of the groups' travellers' luggage all the cloths were carried to Nepal.

As you will understand, this is super! Our children are very happy with it because they have some sort of new fashioned clothing, colourfull and good quality. The children are feeling well in the "off school" clothes, which is good for their self-esteem. The children can choose for themselves, change with eachother; they make a lot of fun together. Besides these new fashioned clothes we also get traditional clothing for special occations.

All together the cloths we receive is enough for all the children of the childhome. The rest of the clothes goes to other childhomes or poor and bagging women with children in the streets of Thamel. So, all our received clothes are used in a good way, as this is very important because the winter is coming very soon.

Today was the big day of giving all the children their new clothes. Oh, I hoped it would stop raining! But finilly it did… Our visitors helped us with trying and measuring. When waiting the children get a nice and sweet glass of Cola or Fanta and some chips. This felt like a holiday, but then on the roof of Hotel Mustang Holliday Inn. All together; it was a very nice day and occasion. Thanks to Mirte, Scapino Supermarkets, HT Wandelreizen and all the others voor their welcome help to our homeless children in Nepal.
