Hohohohohoooo, who is there visiting our kids? Santa Claus!

As I already wrote, we were invited to visit Santa Claus the day after Sinterklaas, by the women-department of the UN-people, the United Nations. This festival was planned a week before Christmas. They requested our children to show their traditional Nepalese dances.

For a year now, our children are trained every Saturday morning by a professional dance-instructor.
It is really funny to learn how to dance, but even better to perform on stage and have an audience. It started already with Tihar festival, when the children enjoyed dancing. The have got rid of their small fears and shyness and earned their first money, some 8000 rupees. Which means some 90 Euro. Good job, isn't it? Some foreign tour-leaders saw our kids dancing and now we are investigating the possibility to perform for groups of tourists in the most fanciest hotels of Kathmandu. To generate income by themselves is a very encouraging way for the children to contribute to their own future and well-being. With this extra money it might be possible to subsidise further specific education.

When dancing at a special event the kids made it even to the front page of the newspaper, followed by this invitation of the UN-ladies. So after a short and quick rehearsal, skipping a school day, the children were dancing around the Christmas tree enjoying Santa Claus with a lot of sweets and chocolates.

The television happened to be there too, so our little hero's even appeared on television! It is thé dream of every Nepali to become a Bollywood star one day: well, some of them came very close this day! Our oldest four boys are now performing a dance and two of them are dancing in traditional Nepali women clothes. Really great, to see those two boys proudly wearing dresses, quite some make-up and earrings without any shame!

Darnidar en Surendra

Our little Dharnidar is the best break-dancer when playing Michael Jackson. So cute, this little man moving so easily and all by himself. One day he will become famous!

Afterwards dancing, for each child a nice present was there by Santa. To finish this remarkable day, a great Nepali buffet with even fresh ice-creams was available for the ladies ánd our kids!
A little tired but very satisfied the children went back home. Well, just look at the pictures.
So if you are having a party and need some amusement, give us a call and we will take care!
