Our Cook didi becomes Sewing didi.

onze Didi As you might still know, we received a sewing machine by family Eijgenraam who came to visit their daughter Brigit and our children home.

To remind you, please read the story on this page (in Dutch).

Our Debokhi, who is the cook didi (cook sister) in Hamro Niwas was very interested and wanted to know all about to use this machine. Thus we sought a teacher who could explain the machine to her and taught her how to make cloths at home. After this introduction period, she same to a point where she wanted to continue with the profession of tailor. Debokhi went out looking for herself and found a trainings centre in town. Each afternoon, she gets some hours of class and she already received the first diploma in her life! She can be really proud of that, especially as she paid all this herself from her own salary.

Debokhi now attends the follow-up course and it could be that some day in future she will maybe say goodbye to her current job as cook in our children home. It might also be possible that when we move to the new children home, we will try to find her a place to open her own sewing shop in the neighborhood.

All in all, everything is going really well for our cook didi. From cast off homeless and destitute mother with two hungry children on the way to becoming a small business woman!

That's the reason for doing all this work. “Action speaks louder than words!”
with all the help from our visitors and sponsors.
